The Dominican friars and “Opera per Santa Maria Novella” invite you on the 25th of March to the inauguration of the Jubilee of the founding of the Dominican community of Santa Maria Novella.

Here we go! 800 years ago the friars founded the convent of Santa Maria Novella, a Dominican presence in the heart of Florence!

Why, of all days, on the 25th of March? It is a really significative date for the city of Florence: not only it is the Florentine New Year’s Day; it is also the Solemnity of the Annunciation and it is to the Virgin Mary that the Church of Santa Maria Novella is dedicated!

For this occasion, we have organised/organized a series of events taking place inside the church:

Program

25th of March

  • 6 p.m. Holy Mass for the opening of the Jubilee Year presided by H.E. Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, President of the Italian Episcopal Conference

  • 8 p.m. “The friar’s arrival in Santa Maria Novella” - online concert with Semperconsort and Konzert Opera Florence

26th of March 

  • 4.30 p.m. “The Bread of life in the history of the Church” - talk by Fr. Luciano Cinelli, O.P.
